Barcelona, Spain
In October 2019 I spent half of a week in this beautiful city. The gothic quarter, Park Guell, and Bouquet d’ alella were a few of the touristy attractions I was able to see. But the food and the wine are really what I wanted to experience.
The wine was amazing. Some of the nicest bottles were only 4 or 5 euros found in the local market. I highly recommend going for the price of wine alone. And if you ever visit you have to take the boat tour to the d’alella Vinyard.
The food was hit or miss. Every meal was served with a starter of olives. In the US it’s always free bread but in Spain free salty olives. Which is great if you’re like me and love olives of all kinds, but not so much if you don’t enjoy them. Some placed had pretty nice quality meals, but splitting tapas with your friends was the most popular thing to do when going out for food. I highly recommend Casa Lolea for stuffed calamari and large sangrias. If you’re looking to have full meals you can find them but they’re not usually as high of quality or flavor as the tapas.
